OPENING SPRING 2026
200 76th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids
On November 7, 2024 voters in the College Community School District approved the design and construction of a new wellness center. The facility will be located on the north side of 76th Avenue just west of Prairie Heights.
The project is a collaborative effort between the College Community School District, YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area, Conlon Construction, OPN Architects, and the City of Cedar Rapids, who have partnered to bring this important community initiative to life. First, the new center has a name! With input from the College Community School District facilities committee, the district decided on the Prairie Summit YMCA.
Key features of the Prairie Summit YMCA include both competition and recreation pools, which will serve as the home venue for Prairie swim teams and offer aquatic opportunities for younger students. Beyond its impressive aquatics amenities, the facility will feature locker rooms, two competition wood courts, a turf area, a walking track, cardio and fitness space, and two multi-use fitness classrooms. These amenities will be connected by a central core that will house a lobby, gathering space, YMCA administrative offices, and a café with seating. Site work and construction began this fall with completion projected for spring 2026.

WHO CAN USE THE PRAIRIE SUMMIT YMCA?
The Prairie Summit YMCA will be the newest addition to facilities in the network of the Cedar Rapids Metro YMCA. Members of the Prairie Summit YMCA can use the Helen G. Nassif YMCA and the Marion YMCA in addition to this facility.
