The Prairie Summit YMCA is the newest location addition to the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area. Members of the YMCA can use any of the YMCAs in Linn County as part of their membership.

Key features of the Prairie Summit YMCA include both competition and recreation pools, which serve as the home venue for Prairie swim teams and offer aquatic opportunities for younger students. Beyond its impressive aquatics amenities, the facility features locker rooms, two competition wood courts, a turf area, a walking track, cardio and fitness space, and two multi-use fitness classrooms. These amenities are connected by a central core that house a lobby, gathering space, YMCA administrative offices, and a café with seating.

HOW TO FIND FACILITY SCHEDULES INCLUDING CLASSES AND POOL USE

Our YMCA360 app is a webportal and mobile platform where you can stream classes taught by YMCA 360 instructors and also check schedules at each of the facilities.

Schedules will let you see class offerings and times, register for classes, check open gym and pool times and receive notifications of any class or building hour changes.

EGYM Unique to the Prairie Summit YMCA

EGYM is an innovative smart fitness system designed to make strength training simple, effective, and personalized. EGYM’s intelligent strength machines automatically adjust to your individual settings, including resistance, range of motion, and training goals, creating a customized workout experience every time you exercise.

The $25 entry rate for EGYM expires on September 31. 

Beginning October 1 the rate for EGYM moves to $40.

DOES THE YMCA OFFER ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD MEMBERSHIP?

YES! The local YMCA provides over $1 million in financial assistance to local community members to ensure access to the Y. The YMCA provides financial assistance for memberships, through a sliding fee scale based on household income. Assistance is also available for programs at the Y. To apply, you will need to complete an application and provide documentation such as recent tax returns or pay stubs to verify your financial need. Application process: You'll need to fill out a financial assistance application and submit it, along with supporting documents. Required documentation: Be prepared to provide documents like your most recent federal tax return or a few months of pay stubs, as well as any other income verification. Confidentiality: The application and your information are kept confidential. Annual review: Assistance is typically reviewed annually, and you will likely need to reapply to continue receiving it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There is a one time fee of $40/per person to receive your RFID Egym band, a full orientation of the machines and access to the Egym fitness app to track your progress. If you register before October 1, you can take advantage of the early registration discount and the one time fee is only $25/per person.

The YMCA is open to members and, where applicable, community members participating in programs and activities. Membership includes access to the Helen G. Nassif YMCA, Marion YMCA and YMCA Camp Wapsie in addition to the Prairie Summit YMCA.

We do not offer day or guest passes at this time.

Youth must be 10 years or older to be in the facility without a parent/guardian. Age requirements and supervision policies vary depending on the area and program. Our staff can help you understand the requirements for your child.

Yes! The Hawks Haven Child Watch is located near the locker rooms. It is FREE while you are in the building and offers morning and evening hours for children 6 months to 10 years old.

Yes, during designated open or recreational swim times. Pool schedules can change based on lessons, practices, competitions and special events, so we recommend checking the schedule before your visit. No lane reservations are required for lap swim.

Yes. The YMCA offers swim instruction and aquatic programming for a variety of ages and skill levels. Lesson schedules will begin after the first of January. Watch for registration dates.

Some spaces within the facility are available as rentals. We also offer opportunities for after hour and overnight rentals. Please see a staff member for details.

Yes. While group exercise classes are free to members, we do have limited space so reservations are required. These can be done on our YMCA 360 app.

Absolutely! We welcome prospective members to learn more about Prairie Summit YMCA and see what the facility has to offer. You do not need to call ahead. We have staff always ready to provide a tour.
