CAMP WAPSIE MAINTENANCE/CUSTODIAL STAFF PART-TIME

POSITION SUMMARY:

To assist the Caretaker in keeping the facilities and grounds at YMCA Camp Wapsie clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive. Repair and maintain facilities and equipment. Work to make sure program areas and equipment are neat and in good repair.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain and repair program activity areas, camp equipment and buildings as needed or assigned.
  2. To assist in keeping the YMCA Camp Wapsie grounds mowed, trimmed, clear of litter and debris, and in a safe condition.
  3. Clean the camp facilities in a clean and neat manner, as assigned by the caretaker.
  4. Repair facility damage as instructed by the caretaker.
  5. Maintain equipment and supplies in good working order and in an organized manner.
  6. Assist with special projects or events as assigned.
  7. Help assure that the camp facilities and maintenance practices agree with the safety and insurance standards.
  8. To create and maintain a harmonious, positive working relationship with fellow staff, YMCA Camp Wapsie campers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. General knowledge of cleaning and maintaining facilities
  2. Basic repair and problem solving skills
  3. Ability to run and maintain mowing, trimming and maintenance equipment
  4. Enjoy working with people of all ages and model the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  5. High School diploma or equivalent
