How do I cancel my membership?
To cancel your membership you must notify the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan YMCAs in writing by the 26th of the month to stop the billing for the following month. Cancellation forms are available at your local YMCA.
Do I have to make a reservation for fitness classes?
Reservations are required for all fitness classes. Reservations can be made through our website or app. Reservations are available to make for fitness classes up to 7 days in advance.
Are reservations required for lap swimming and open swim?
Reservations are required for lap swimming and can be made 36 hours in advance at the Marion YMCA & Rec Center through the YMCA Universal App or through our website. Helen G Nassif YMCA does not require reservations for lap swimming.
Marion YMCA & Rec Center: Reservations are required for the rec pool (i.e. “open swim”). Reservations are not available to make online or through the Y’s mobile app – reservations must be made in person or by calling the Marion YMCA’s front desk at (319) 377-7361. Please make a reservation for each individual in your party that will be swimming during the available time slot. Up to 25 individuals can use the rec pool for open swim per time slot. Reservations can be made up to one day in advance.

Do you have a hot tub and sauna?
Both Helen G Nassif YMCA and Marion YMCA & Rec Center have a hot tub. Reservations are not required for hot tub use. MEMBERS MUST BE 18 OR OLDER TO USE THE HOT TUB. Helen G Nassif has a sauna in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms but Marion YMCA & Rec Center does not. Helen G Nassif also has a steam room but Marion YMCA does not.
Are guest passes or day passes available?
No, we are not offering guest passes or day passes at this time.
Do you provide daycare for my children while I am working out?
At the Marion YMCA & Rec Center, Child Watch is offered Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and Monday – Thursday, 4:00 PM – 7:45 PM. Child Watch is FREE to members and is available for children ages 6 months to 9 years of age. This service is first come, first serve and is limited in capacity to 20 children at once. Members must remain on site while their child(ren) are in Child Watch. Helen G Nassif does not provide Child Watch
I am a member at another YMCA, does my membership work at the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan YMCAs?
Yes, our association participates in Nationwide membership which means you can use your membership from another YMCA while visiting our area. If you are part of an insurance program, that membership does not transfer to Nationwide membership.
I have moved out of the area will my membership transfer to the YMCA in my new area?
YMCA memberships are non-transferrable across different YMCA associations. If you have moved out of the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area, you must cancel your membership with us and start a new membership with the YMCA in your new area.
Do you offer discounts on membership based on income?
We do offer income based pricing based on household income. Household income must be verified in person with documentation such as most recent W2 forms or 2 of the most recent pay stubs of each working adult in the home. Other forms of income verification we use are an unemployment award letter, social security award letter, food stamp assistance, housing assistance and/or energy assistance.
How do I change my billing method on file for my membership?
You can change your billing method through your online account on our website or in person at your local YMCA.
What if payment for my membership doesn’t go through, are there return fees?
Should your bank or credit card company for any reason not honor any membership and/or program deduction, you are responsible for the payment PLUS a service charge of $25 applied by the YMCA. This is in addition to any service fee that your bank or credit card company may make.
I lost my ID card. How do I get another?
Visit your local branch and a new one can be issued to you. Be aware there may be a $5 fee for a replacement card.
I have a billing question, who should I speak to?
For membership billing questions, speak to the Member Engagement Director or Branch Director of your home branch. For program billing questions, speak to the Program Director affiliated with the type of program you signed up for. You can call your local YMCA for the director’s contact information.
Who can be on my membership with me?
Anyone living in your household. The only restriction is that we do not offer memberships for more than 3 adult household families. Adults are categorized as aged 26 and up, any adult children aged 25 and under are categorized as dependents and do not count as adults on the account.
How can I add or remove family members from my membership?
To make changes such as adding or removing household family members from your membership please stop by your local YMCA to complete these changes in person. You will need to complete a membership form for this change.
Do the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan YMCAs offer free memberships to foster children?
Yes, free memberships are available for foster children but do not include their foster family. Verification of guardianship must be shown to receive a free foster child membership.
I would like a tour of the facility, do I need to make an appointment?
No, you don’t need to make an appointment to tour the facility.
