
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR - PRAIRIE SUMMIT YMCA (FULL-TIME)
Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, the Membership Director will play a critical role in creating and continually developing the membership base at the Prairie Summit YMCA. This role oversees all membership activities at the Prairie Summit YMCA branch and works closely with the Cedar Rapids Metro YMCA Membership Development Director to expand the YMCA’s reach and impact. By creating a welcoming, inclusive environment and leading with excellent service, this position will ensure more individuals and families can access YMCA facilities and programs and your commitment ensures the YMCA remains a vital, accessible place for all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create a member focused culture and model relationship building skills in all interactions. Foster a climate of innovation by developing strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise welcome center personnel, child watch personnel and volunteers as needed. Create and maintain effective coverage schedules to ensure consistent staff presence and operation efficiency to meet facility needs.
- Ensure the payroll for all supervised staff is accurate and submitted on time, following established procedures.
- Assist marketing efforts focused on internal/external marketing strategies and production of material to support member experience and retention.
- Responsible for reviewing all daily financial transactions performed at the welcome center. Ensures the accuracy of shift reports and daily bank deposits.
- Review all collections for the branch and monitor membership holds, system credits and age requirements for membership types.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve member inquiries promptly to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Identify and address potential risks/issues associated with membership operations, ensuring safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Assist the staff leadership team in reaching annual campaign goals by recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
- Assist with in-house fundraising activities and special events to support and advance the YMCA’s mission.
- Ensure successful day-to-day operations of the facility by actively walking through the facility, greeting members, assessing workflow, supporting staff, confirming adherence to policies and optimizing efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Branch Executive Director on the overall usage of the facility.
- Establish positive relationships with fellow staff members and YMCA patrons, centered around the four core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support the overall operations and goals of the Prairie Summit YMCA.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or 2 years of college in related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
- Previous sales experience preferred.
- Possess enthusiasm and eagerness to learn new skills necessary to perform the job and to develop new/better ways of providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to exercise discretion.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative, including both independent and discriminatory judgement.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
