SWIM TEAM AIDE - HELEN G. NASSIF YMCA
Under the general supervision and direction of either the Aquatics Director, Head Swim Team Coach or Assistant Swim Team Coach, the Swim Team Aide provides staff leadership to swim team practices and workouts for members of the YMCA swim team. A Swim Team Aide also provides needed staff leadership for home swim meets. Assistance at away swim meets will be provided on an "as needed" basis.
DESCRIPTION
• Assist Head Swim Team Coach and/or Assistant Swim Team Coach in administering and facilitating swim team practices and workouts.
• Help to ensure safety of participants during practices and workouts and, with re.asonable prudence, during swim meets.
• Provide input and constructive observations of participants’ stroke techniques.
• Teach, using the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Be an active participant in all practices and swim meets, as scheduled.
• Effectively communicate with swim team participants and parents, and involve Head Swim Team Coach, Assistant Swim Team Coach, and/or Aquatics Director in these communications, as needed.
• Provide assistance and back-up to the Head Swim Team Coach and Assistant Swim Team Coach, as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Understands and embraces the YMCA philosophy of competitive swimming.
• Strong skills in the areas of communication and motivation.
• Possess enthusiasm and eagerness to learn new skills necessary to perform the job.
• Ability to follow direction and take constructive criticism.
• Enjoy working and interacting with people of ail types and ages, modeling and utilizing the important core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Ability to exercise discretion and deal appropriately with confideintiai information.
• Strong competitive swimming background preferred.
• Previous swim instruction and/or coaching experience preferred.
• Must be lifeguard certified or become certified within 60 days of hire.
